How the lake level works
- The ideal summer level is 203.1 to 203.7 feet.
- The level is controlled by the privately owned dam on Fish Creek. It opens at the end of October to lower the lake for winter.
- Rain and snow from a 244-square-mile watershed flow into the lake, so big storms can raise it fast.
- Lakefront owners should check FEMA flood-zone maps before building.
